Tricks#

Shortcut for posting in Firefox#

You can configure Firefox to post the current page at the push of a button:

  • Install the KeyConfig extension.
  • Bind the following code to a key of your choice, replacing MYUSERNAME with your user name:
    gBrowser.loadURI("javascript:location.href='http://www.bibsonomy.org/ShowBookmarkEntry?c=b&jump;=yes&user;=MYUSERNAME&url;='+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+'&description;='+encodeURIComponent(document.title)+'&extended;='+encodeURIComponent(window.getSelection())")
Make sure to keep it all in one line.

Change tags of several posts#

The edit tags page offers a tag editor with which you can change the tags of several posts at once. Every post which contains all the tags you entered will be altered by replacing these tags with the new tags you specified.

If you enter folksonomy project in the first box ("tags to replace") and social bookmarking system in the second box ("new tags"), all resources which have both folksonomy and project as tags will be altered by removing these two tags and adding the tags social, bookmarking and system. Of course, you can use this editor to just change one tag to another (for example systems to system to clean your vocabulary).

Scraping citation metadata#

PUMA helps you creating your citation metadata entries: You can select the entry of your choice on a website or upload your publication entry. If you select a reference from ACM, Springer or other digital libraries (see link for an overview), scrapers will get the citation metadata entry for you. If not, an extraction tool will automatically extract editable metadata from the reference.

DOI-scraping#

With a new PUMA feature, you can easily extract the BibTeX reference of a publication using its DOI.

Try it on the following page: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Object_Identifier. Just highlight the first DOI (DOI:10.1007/s003390201377) with your mouse and press the postBookmark button.

The DOI will be automatically scraped and the BibTeX reference will be displayed in the window below.

Create publication lists#

If you are registered in PUMA, you can upload your publications. PUMA creates a list of your publications that can be used on external web sites. All you need is linking your publication web site to your publication list in PUMA.

GeneralList#

/publ/user/myname

BibTexList#

/bib/user/myname

Subset List for Classes etc.#

In order to better format your list, you can also extract subsets from your total publications. Create a publication list for your class by picking the items into your basket, add a special tag, e.g. ClassAng001 and publish that list on your website or email the link to your students.

/publ/user/myname/classang001
